About Me
Hi, I’m Alexandra Phoenix aka "Crimson Creates”.
I've been wildly passionate about ancient history, lore, and mythos since childhood—drawn to the storytelling, spirituality, history, art, and
archaeology of ancient peoples for as long as I can remember.
My big brother’s love of art, comics, gaming, ancient history, and martial arts introduced me to these worlds, and as a kid, I spent summers with my book-loving mom at Barnes & Noble, getting lost in stories. I was lucky to grow up in a diverse northern NJ town, where my friends came from a wide range of backgrounds—Middle Eastern, Asian, Southeast Asian, and European.
Their cultures and perspectives opened my eyes to different ways of thinking and creating. My older sister's exceptional photography skills inspired me to see how I could compose art from the world around me. And my father's simple love of adventure, culture, and food further fueled my creativity and deep appreciation for people, stories, art, history, and more.
My artist moniker “Crimson Creates” originated from when I used to write short stories with my mother or with my childhood friend. One story there was a creation goddess whose other form was a phoenix (my last name). And her name was Crimson. It was a beloved character of mine from childhood that I held throughout time.
I started my journey studying graphic design at a small college before transferring to the Illustration program at School of Visual Arts in NYC. From there, I stepped into the NYC art world, engaging with both local and international artists.
During the pandemic, with ample time on my hands, I partnered with three other artists to launch an art book publishing project. We brought together 60 artists from around the world, and I took on the role of liaison between the artists and our team, as well as brand designer, strategist, and interviewer.
I was lucky enough to interview some of my favorite artists, including Dave McKean and Angela Wang. Alongside writing interviews and blogs for the project’s site and socials, I had fun curating playlists for artists to enjoy while working, which we shared on our YouTube channel. My love for business-building, art, design, and branding has led me to take on side projects for up-and-coming businesses. My small business was called “Crimson Social”. My business focused on my personal desire to work with and for companies that want positively impact individual lives. From working with security companies to cold plunge businesses. Aiding businesses that has a mission to improve the lives of people matters to me. A lot!
In my free time, I make zines, exercise (mobility training is my passion), adventure with friends and family, and create mood boards.
